Rec Request
Recently I've broken into post-apocalypse stories. I've been looking for quality slash with this. I've read If I lay here by S A Payne and Esperanza by Ocotillo. I really enjoyed both of those stories. I'd prefer something completed and long at least 100k word count. But I'd really don't like the zombie bit so if that could be excluded that would be great. I've been into Slash for.. oh.. 10 years I'd say. Starting, naturally, with Fanfiction, and moving into original stories. I have found, however, that it's so HARD to find really good stories, that not only have plot, but GOOD plot, and good characterization where the characters grow as the story progresses (sex would be nice, but not required). And of course, the stories I've read in the past, which have put me off to Slash writing, is men who act like women. Now, I know there are some men who are ..well.. girly, but not ALL gay men act like girls. They're not all stereotypically gay going around calling one another "Sweety, sugar, honey, baby" and any number of other sugary nicknames that I have never once heard my gay friends call one another out of anything other than joking. So, what I'm looking for is a GOOD STORY (preferably finished) with plot, good characterization and men who actually ACT LIKE MEN. Any takers? EDIT: Here are the requirements: 1) Men who act like men 2) A plot that is not constant porn (some sex is okay, even appriciated, but I don't want that to be the main focus of the story) 3) a plot that actually MOVES and characters who grow as the story progresses 4) NO ROMANTISIZED RAPE - rape to move the plot along is fine, I love a good angsty story, but I don't want to read a story that is constant rape and torture and where the rapist falls in love with the rapee and vise-versa. 5) Well written. Grammatically correct (for the most part), words spelled right and USED right (If there's a lot of people saying "your" for "you're" I'm going to scream), and a story that uses description and isn't all dialog. SECOND EDIT: YOU GUY'S ARE BRILLIANT!!!! I have a HUGE list of rec's, and keep them coming if you please, that seem very promising. I'm also glad to hear that I'm not the only one who likes men who act like men, and actual plot rather than constant rape and porn. (Of course, I love a really good PWP porn story too, as long as it's a one-shot and short, so if you have any of those you'd rec, I'd be happy to read them too ^__^) Current Mood: creative |

The authors summary sounds like yaoi manga but is far darker than that. The main character Jake is paying off his father's debt by working for a loan shark and in a selfless moment takes on the debt of a former friend, which turns out to be a horrible decision. The sex in this story verges on non-consensual and the anger Jake feels for Mason makes their 'relationship' interesting. Mason is not a sympatheic character and the way he treats Jake tetters back and forth from affectionate to sociopathic cruelty. Current Mood:  calm |

i need recommondations
I'm sure you get pretty sick of this, but i need recommendations. i haven't really read many slash fiction, since i don't tend to find much original fiction, but i read 'snowflakes and embers' by SA Payne recently because a friend raved about it and i really enjoyed it. i'm not sure what the general consensus is about that story, but i enjoyed it because it was well written (except i sort of skimmed the end because it dragged on for too long and, in general, the second half was pretty weak). I'd love to read more well written original stories; fantasy would be good, but anything's fine. |

I had never really ventured to actual filmed gay content since I didn't think there was anything that I'd like. This show, I definitely liked. More than liked, actually. To me, it has all the bits of content I love when I'm looking for something to watch. It has good acting. Believe it or not, the main actor, Gale Harold, is actually straight in real life. He plays his part so well, that I truly felt as if he was gay in not only the show, but in real life. Which was why I researched it afterward to see. What a surprise I found :P It also has good-looking characters. I love, love, love, both Gale and Randy, which makes their scenes not only enthralling, but very hot and steamy. They portray both their parts very believable with the good acting, and amazing chemistry. They are what made me instantly hooked with the show. Plus they're just very hot and sexy... ^^ The main character, Brian Kinney (Gale) is the typical player who believes in only sex, not love or any strings-attached. But, a supposed 'one-night stand' with seventeen-year-old Justin Taylor (Randy) leaves problems in Brian's wake, as he struggles throughout the series in whether or not to allow himself to change what he really believes, what's important, and what to do about it. Justin Taylor, who lost his virginity to Brian, finds himself in love with the 'commitment-phobic' Brian. He also struggles with his sexuality, and the qualms he faces with not only loving Brian, but having his life affected by being who he is. The show also follows other characters, various relationship issues, drugs, political problems for those who are homosexual, and gay bashing. It's got humor and very likable characters. Definitely a show you should give a shot! I liked the first three seasons better though. Not that I think the last two were bad, just not to the expectations I feel they should've been at when compared to the first three. And, I'm not sure if I'm allowed to give actual links to where you can watch this online for free... if not, then tell me and I'll remove it ^^ I also don't think I did the tags right... Water Games
Title: Water Games Author: Dead Fridays Status: WIP Length:10,627 words so far Rating: will go up to M Summary: As Luc nears thirty still smarting from an old injury, he feels the end of his swimming career approach, but his retirement is the least of his worries when what started as a simple rivalry with a confident, up-and-coming younger swimmer turns tide.
Review: What I love most about this story is how mature it is, Luc doesn't fall in love at first sight, doesn't spend all his time emoing and obsessing about Lorne, it's all very down-to-earth. (And did I mention they both are hot swimmers with wicked bodies? :p) Luc's a jaded athlete, a bit on the asocial side, slightly cynical, but very realistic. His pov gives us an interesting introduction to the professional swimming world, and by extension, into his life and character, thanks to all the reflective bits peppered flawlessly in the story. Lorne is an awesome piece of work, cocky, arrogant, doesn't give a f*ck about much (except for a certain older swimmer) but at the same time, he's just so cute x); and the very few interactions he has with Luc are so promising, you just can't wait for him to pop Luc's unaffected bubble. So do yourself a favor, read this, and leave the author coms to prompt her to write the rest soon! =)

D/s recs?
Can anyone rec me some good D/s or Master/slave originals? Anything goes - sci-fi, fantasy, historical, slave world (in which case, though, not one or more group of people being slaves because of a uniting genetic factor like race or sex... except maybe if it's a 360○ with the white, straight male being all slaved up? I don't know, I've not read any, but it's an intriguing idea); BDSM, dub-con - whatever as long as there is domination and submission in some form. And lots of sex. Oh, and I know this is a slash comm, but any combination of the sexes is good with me, including moresomes, if you're allowed to rec them in comments.It gets Special Bonus Points if there's character study regarding the psychology of the character re: getting off on dominating/being dominated. It just makes it hotter, being the sucker for meta and character studies that I am. Any length is good; plot's ok as long as the sex is the main focus. I just want pr0n, lol. Pleeeease rec everything you've got (including fics from strange fandoms; desperation's talking here); I suck at finding good stories myself and I'm tired of re-reading the one word file I saved from some kink meme. (And I'm looking at a couple of internet-less weeks, so I need stuff saved!) I have checked the tags (am reading some of the recs right now), and yes I have read the Slave Breakers (it was ok; I'd much rather have read about breaking the slaves).Thank you! |

I just finished reading 'Entwined' & 'Rainbow Fish' witch are both Sci-Fi, and honestly I was never one for Sci-Fi stories, but after reading those two I think I've become a fan! Title: Steven Sweeney and the Man With the Silver Cigarette Case Author: foolish_m0rtalFormat: short story/novella? Length: 1865 (first chapter) Status: WIP Rating: PG-13 Warnings: "It's ridiculously dramatic, campy, full of Sam Spadeish slang" - quoth the author oh and some potential gun violence. Summary: When grizzled gumshoe Steven Sweeney takes a case from a mysterious client, he gets into the middle of a mystery where no one can be trusted. Has Sweeney finally bitten off more than he can chew? Is this the case that will finally have Sweeney sleeping with the fishes? Review: It's only the first chapter, but the narration is refreshing and snarky and totally befitting of its genre, the cast of characters presented in the first chapter are already awesome and it's shaping up to look like a totally awesome mystery story. That aside, the author's writing style is crisp, amazing and perfect, and it reads like a warm cup of cocoa on a rainy night. Hardboiled-noir slash - who could say no to that? Excerpt: He was a young fella, ‘bout my age. Blonde. Clean cut in a way I’d always associated with the suits down in the business district but also kinda lean and cagey. Like a cat. It reminded me too much of the button men I’d traded bullets with only a few weeks before in the Valenti warehouse on the docks. The casual way he had his hands in his pockets probably meant he was packing heat.
“Detective Steven Sweeney?”
And then I clean forgot everything else, because he had a smile like the edge of a razor. All thin lines with just a small hint of teeth. Like a barracuda. Made the hairs on the back of my neck shoot right up.
